The census of 1890 was destroyed by fire. The only part to survive for North Carolina was the census taken in; South Point Township, Riverbend Township and township #2 in Cleveland County.
She went on to marry Columbus Straley Burgin (1851-1923) on December 13th, 1908 in Cherokee County, North Carolina.

On July 20th, 1870 we find Columbus on page 9, line 1 of the Federal Census living in his fathers (Benjamin Burgess) household in Crooked Creek Township, McDowell County, North Carolina. At the time of the census he is 19 years old, single, was working as farm labor and was born in North Carolina.

Columbus was 36 years Roxie's senior and was previously married to Margaret Smith Mitchell (1850-1907). From this union at least 7 children were born; Julia Etta 1871-1936 (William Witcher Clark 1861-1920), Augustus Patton 1874-1974 (Georgia Ann Redwine 1884-1975), William Alexander 1878-1965 (Rebecca Adeline Halford 1878-1938), Mary Mitchell 1878-1946 (Lewis H. Clark 1870-1935), Cora Dysart 1880-1968 (Reedy Burke Brigman 1887-1977), Straley 1882-1902 (Never married/children) and Carrie 1885-?. On October 15th, 1907 their mother Margaret died in McDowell County, North Carolina. The following year Columbus married Roxie.

From this union at least 4 children were born;
On September 4th, 1911 their first child, Callie Jane "Janie" Burgin was born in Old Fort Township, McDowell County, North Carolina. She went on to marry Robert Glen Rabon (1907-1941) on July 7th, 1934 in Henry County, Virginia. From this union at least 2 children were born; Robert "Bobby"Burgin 1935-2006 (Carol Roberta Hanes 1934-?) and William 1938-?. On April 11th, 2007 Janie died in Kure Beach, New Hanover County, North Carolina. At the time of her death she was 96 years old.
On October 1st, 1915 their second child, Caroline Dysart Burgin was born in McDowell County, North Carolina. After the death of her parents Caroline was sent to live at the Oxford Orphanage in Oxford, Granville County, North Carolina.

On May 14th, 1918 their third child, John Wilson Burgin was born in Buncombe County, North Carolina. After the death of his parents John was sent to live with his older half brother William Alexander Burgin 1878-1965. (He went on to marry Mary Lou Pollard (1919-2013). From this union at least 1 child was born; Lou Ann 1954-1981 (Leo Burman1936-?). On December 13th, 1979 John died in Framers Branch, Dallas County, Texas. At the time of his death he was 60 years old.

On February 20th, 1920 their fourth child, Columbus Straley Burgin Jr was born in McDowell County, North Carolina. After the death of his parents Columbus was sent to live at the Oxford Orphanage in Oxford, Granville County, North Carolina. He went on to marry Helen Elizabeth Grant. On January 29th, 1986 Columbus died in Richmond, Richmond Independent City, Virginia. At the time of his death he was 66 years old.

On July 25th, 1923 Columbus died in McDowell County, North Carolina. He was buried in Old Fort City cemetery in old Fort, McDowell County, North Carolina. At the time of his death he was 72 years old.
